Tension gripped Ring Road-3 in the outskirts of Raipur on Friday, when a tanker truck containing inflammable fuel ‘Liquefied Petroleum Gas’ (LPG) met an accident and exposed passersby on the busy stretch to a major threat. A tanker truck (KA 01 AG 3170) carrying LPG was hit by a clothes-laden truck (GJ 03 BY 7212) on Ring Road-3 near Mandir Hasaud toll plaza under Mandir Hasaud police station limits at around 9 am, said police sources, elaborating that no loss of life was reported in the accident.
 
After being informed about the mishap, a police team accompanied by firefighters and experts dealing with the inflammable fuel rushed to the spot for undertaking rescue exercise and to avert any mishap, added police sources.
 
The clothes-laden truck heading towards Odisha from Gujarat crashed into the tanker truck transporting LPG to Siltara industrial Area from Mandir Hasaud. Swift action taken by police, firefighters and experts by shifting the fuel to another tanker, averted a major tragedy in State Capital. As many as three fire-tenders and four cranes were rushed to the spot for undertaking the rescue exercise. It takes around seven hours to ensure shifting of the fuel from the ill-fated tanker to another vehicle and the road was cleared. Till report was last filed, a probe in connection with the road accident was under way and offence was not registered, added police sources.
