Medical Education Minister Vishwas Sarang said that Medical Education Student Insurance Scheme is going to be introduced in Madhya Pradesh. This will be the first such scheme across the country. By implementation of scheme, family of students studying in Government medical colleges will not have to face any financial expenditure in case of student falls ill. Addressing the press conference, Vishwas Sarang told that health insurance and accident insurance cover will be provided to medical education students studying in Government and autonomous medical, dental, nursing colleges. This is first of its scheme in country under which medical student during his study period state government will provide insurance cover. Under the scheme, students will get Rs 2 lakh mediclaim and cover of Rs 10 lakh in personal accident and death case. More than 15,000 students studying in Government and autonomous Government colleges working under Medical Education Department will get benefit of the scheme.
 
The selected insurance company will give cashless card facilities for medi claim to medical students. Through the medium of cashless card, medical education student can get themselves treated at any government and private hospital of country. Under mediclaim, treatment of critical diseases will be also included. Moreover, already existing diseases of students will be also included in mediclaim. He said that importance of mediclaim increases during the ongoing period of corona disease because many medical students have got affected with pandemic. Meanwhile, medical students are always susceptible of catching the infectious disease while on duty. Answering to a question, Sarang said that premium amount information will be given later. He also spoke about corona vaccination drive and told that state tops vaccination drive in country. Madhya Pradesh has achieved 70 per cent vaccination target.
