Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) on Friday took stringent action against Rungta College by sealing the college building at Veer Sawarkar Nagar ward-1 for failing to pay taxes since 2010-11. The officials, however, reopened the seal after the College Director paid half of the due property tax and promised of paying the remaining amount within a week.
 
The RMC Zone-8 Revenue Department team led by Zone-8 Commissioner Arun Dhruw, Zone Assistant Revenue Officer Pramod Jadhav formally sealed the college campus. As his institution was sealed, Rungta College Director paid up to Rs 4 lakh and agreed to pay the remaining Rs 4,00,424 within next seven days to the Zone Commissioner.Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) on Friday took stringent action against Rungta College by sealing the college building at Veer Sawarkar Nagar ward-1 for failing to pay taxes since 2010-11. The RMC Zone-8 Revenue Department team led by Zone-8 Commissioner Arun Dhruw, Zone Assistant Revenue Officer Pramod Jadhav formally sealed the college campus. As his institution was sealed, Rungta College Director paid up to Rs 4 lakh and agreed to pay the remaining Rs 4,00,424 within next seven days to the Zone Commissioner. Thereafter, Zone Commissioner Dhruw, on the order of RMC Commissioner Saurabh Kumar, asked RMC Assistant Revenue Officer Jadhav to open the seal and asked the Director to pay up the due taxes within a week or his premises will be sealed back again.
 
On the occasion, Sub Engineer Ajit Rathore, Revenue Inspector Sunil Raghuwanshi, Assistant Revenue Inspector Nandkumar Vaishnav, Revenue Inspector Ratnadeep Karwade, Assistant Revenue Inspector Manish Bhoi and Town Planning Department’s officer were present. On the same day, RMC Zone-6 Revenue Department team also sealed 11 shops under the revenue collection drive at Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee ward-61. The shopkeepers were allotted the shops under Mukhyamantri Swavlamban Yojana. Led by Zone-6 Commissioner Hemant Sharma, team also recovered Rs 45,368 from the shopkeepers.
