Crime Branch Police have arrested eight people and have recovered more than 30 pistols, country-made pistols and rifles from their possession. The accused used to sell these weapons at different places in the State for Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000. Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime Branch) Gopal Dhakad said that illegal arms and ammunition were recovered from the accused in bulk.

These included pistol, country-made pistol and 0.315 bore rifle and live cartridges. This is a matter of concern for police, as country-made pistols are easy to manufacture, but cartridges cannot be made. In this case, subject of investigation is the source of the cartridge. The team of Crime Branch conducted raids in 7 cities and towns apart from Bhopal to catch these smugglers.

The accused were arrested from Bhind, Morena, Sironj, Kuravai, Mandideep and Raisen along with Bhopal and police have also found arms factories in some places. The accused have been identified as Pappu Kewat (41), Manoj Singh Rajpoot (35), Gajendra Singh (24), Gyan Singh (42), Golu Ahirwar (19), Gagan Rajpoot (29), Anand Sharma (46), and Deepak Rajpoot (27). Further investigations are underway.
