Phase 2 of COVID-19 vaccination: Top Govt officials get jab

The phase 2 of COVID-19 vaccination drive began across the State to inoculate 2.81 lakh frontline workers and will continue till February 13. The frontline workers include policemen, security personnel, panchayat and revenue department officials, who actively participated during the pandemic to contain the virus in the State. A total of 832 vaccination centres across the State, and 79 in Bhopal, were set up to inoculate the frontline workers from Monday onwards.
 
Nearly 27,000 frontline workers have been registered to get a jab in the second phase of the drive. Div Commr, Collector, ADG, DIG get a jab: Top officials of each department were the first to receive a shot of vaccine in Bhopal to spread a positive message among the citizens. District Collector Avinash Lavania, Divisional Commissioner Kavindra Kiyawat, DIG Irshad Wali, Zila Panchayat CEO Vikas Mishra were among those vaccinated first at the centre set up the Collectorate. At the inoculation centre set up in the police control room, ADGP A Sai Manohar was the first person to get jabbed. ADGP Manohar, after receiving the shot, said the cops not only did exemplary work during the pandemic but also many caught infection and died.
 
The second shot of the vaccine will be given to them 28 days later. Both vaccines being administered: The officials of the Health Department said that shots of both Covaxin and Covishield are being given at different centres. Those who opt for Covaxin will have to sign a consent form before getting the jab. All recipients of the Covaxin are given a consent form as it was approved by DCGI for restricted use in emergency situations that may prevent COVID-19.
