Poor night patrolling of Raipur Police has made the state capital an easy target and money minting machine for burglars as separate locations in the city were frequently witnessing incidents of burglary. Burglaries in the city’s three separate locations under Telibandha police station limits reported within 24-hours exposed the reality of night domination exercise by police and their alertness. Due to poor night patrolling and weak local network, prevention of burglaries is turning out to be a tough task for the city police. It has been noticed in recent times that burglars are running several steps ahead of police here and frequently executing burglaries at separate locations in the city. In a fresh incident of house breaking-in, thieves broke into a locked bungalow located at posh Vidhayak Colony under Telibandha police station limits and decamped with valuables worth Rs 12000.
 
Burglary took place at the posh Vidhayak Colony has brought massive criticism to police. According to police sources, on the intervening night of February 6-7, burglars broke into the bungalow of Ajay Rathiya (40) and made away with electronic gadgets of around Rs 12000. As a house was allotted to the victim in Nava Raipur, the victim was not residing in the bungalow but visits there on frequent basis. As the burglary came to light on February 7, the victim lodged a complaint with Telibandha police station. In another incident, a daylight burglary was reported under Telibandha police station limits on February 7. In the broad daylight burglary, thieves broke into a locked house of Purushottam Sahu (48) located at village Phundahar and decamped with valuables worth Rs 55000. The burglary took place on February 7 noon when the victim was went to the city’s Rajendra Nagar to attend a ring ceremony.
 
On returning back, the victim found lock on his house door broke and valuables missing. In third incident, burglars broke into a cafe and decamped with valuables worth Rs 20500. The entire incident of burglary was captured in CCTV camera of the cafe. Taking advantage of poor night patrolling, thieves broke into a locked house located at Professor Colony under Purani Basti police station and escaped with valuables worth Rs 3.80 lakh. According to information received, burglars broke into the locked house of a private contractor Ritesh Verma (45) and decamped with Rs 3.50 lakh cash and ornaments, collectively worth Rs 3.80 lakh. In this connection, three separate cases were registered with Telibandha police station under relevant Sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
