Two killed, 28 injured as bus falls in nullah near Chhindwara

Two women were killed and 28 others were injured when a speeding bus plunged into nullah after ramming into a culvert on Multai road under the jurisdiction of Lavaghoghri police station in the intervening night of Thursday and Friday.
The deceased have been identified as Nandini Khan (22), wife of Faizal Khan, resident of Kolar road in Bhopal and Rupali Asati (36), wife of Ashish Asati, a resident of Balaghat.
According to Chhindwara police, the incident took place when a bus of Verma Travels, bearing registration number MP-04 PA 4363, was ferrying passengers from Balaghat towards Indore.
The bus was passing through Mainikhapa village when the driver lost control over speeding bus and rammed it into a culvert and the bus was plunged into a nullah and overturned.
Witnessing the incident, villagers were gathered on the spot and started rescuing the passengers.
Learning about the incident, a police team reached the spot and rushed the injured at district hospital with the help of 108 ambulance service. Two of the injured named Nandini Khan and Rupali Asati succumbed to their critical injuries while condition of injured is reported to be stable undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Senior police, administrative officers and public representatives reached the spot and sought information about the accident.
On Friday morning, RTO, Santosh Paul reached the spot and found that the bus has permit from Jabalpur and fitness certificate from Bhopal. RTO has started preparations for cancelling the bus permit. Lavaghoghri police registered a case under Sections 304(A) and 279 of the IPC and started investigation to identify and apprehend the accused bus driver.
