Nobel laureate Prof Mohammed Yunus, on Monday, said that new and alternate education system will decide directions for future in the World. “We should make students aware of their identity so that they can contribute to the society according to their strengths,” he added. In ‘Invited Talks’ in the EduVision-2021, Prof Yunus said, “Today, education is producing only job-seekers and this trend must be changed.” Vice-Chairman of NITI Aayog Dr Rajiv Kumar said, “Value-based education is the need of the hour. We should develop such educational system where every student has concern with environment and contribute for nature-friendly development.
 
Human life is at danger due to conflict in development and environment.” Dr Kumar further added, “Agriculture related industry model is not as per our requirement. Around 86 per cent farmers have less than one hectare land.” He suggested that universities should promote agriculture-based research. Before this, in the first round table conference, UGC Chairman Professor D P Singh and AICTE Chairman Professor Anil Sahastrabudhe put presentations and initiatives being taken up for implementation of National Education Policy. He said, “We have to impart global knowledge to students along with their roots in local under NEP. The policy has bridged the gap between academia and industry. Gurudakshta programme has been launched for teachers’ training. Curriculum related with life skill will help students.” Professor Sahastrabudhe underlined the need of Indians in education.
 
He said, there were schools in old time also but Britishers destroyed them to implement their system. Vice-Chancellors, educationists asked questions and made suggestions for NEP implementations. In other session on ‘Challenges in online education’, Director of Consortium of Educational Communication (CEC), J B Nadda detailed the facilities available for online education and digitalisation and shared the success of MOOC. NCERT Secretary Harsh Kumar shared the information and activities of online education and NCERT.
