Twenty local breed dogs were inducted to Police Training School, Dogs, Bhopal under the direction of ADG (SAF) Milind Kanskar and Fighter 23rd Corps Yusuf Qureshi. The move was a reaction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s indication towards usefulness and efficiency of native breed dogs in ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme. In the same sequence, Police Training School, Dogs, Bhopal also inducted improved native breed dogs, including Mudhol Hound, Rampur Hound, Rajapalayam, Kanni, Kombai, and Chippiparai breeds.

Fighter 23rd Corps Yusuf Qureshi visited premises and instructed veterinary doctors to examine the dogs on daily basis and ensure that proper nutrition is being provided to them. Administrative officials of Police Training School, Dogs, were instructed to constantly clean canals and to develop a personal attachment with each dog to teach every step of training closely. These local breeds are no less than foreign ones in physical endurance and we hope some of them could prove even better, said the officer, citing example of Rampur hound a crossbreed dog, which is known for its agility and fast pace running. Additionally, Police Training School, Dogs, Bhopal, has become the first police unit in the country to have taken up local breed for training. The dogs trained at Bhopal school, after training, are posted in Army, paramilitary forces, Forest Department and other investigative agencies.
