SIX cyclists from Nagpur pedalled a distance of 4100 kms starting from Dwarka to Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh in just 26 days and bought laurels to the city. Ravindra Tarare, Sandeep Vaidya, Shrikant Uke, Prasad Deshpande, Vijay Bhaskar Reddy (Hyderabad) and Namdeo Raut (Chandrapur) started their ride on January 23 and continued till February 13 to reach the destination spreading the message about clean environment, importance of cycling in maintenance of clean hygiene and health and green and fit India.

 

Riding throughout the day they covered average 200 kms distance per day. The players and social workers in each state gave them warm welcome, creating new energy and enthusiasm among them. All India president of Krida Bharti Gopal Saini (Ex-Olympian) welcomed the cyclists at Jaipur (Rajasthan). On February 19. the cyclists were received at Nagpur railway station with a band procession and a rally was organised till Hedgewar Smarak Samiti, Smruti Mandir, Reshimbagh.

 

A felicitation event was also organised at Ambazari Lake side, where the function was chaired by Dr Sharad Suryawanshi, Director, Physical Education and Sports Department, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University and Secretary, Nagpur District Athlteics Association, Dr Vinod Khandait, Cardiologist (GMC), Dronachayray awardee Vijay Munishwar, Prakash Nikam and Atul Tapase. Ravindra Tarare and Vijay Bhaskar Reddy narrated their experience about expedition. Sanjay Batwe conducted the programme.
