RAIPUR,

After a halt of few months there was a sudden spurt of the corona cases in State with the number crossing the 800 mark on Tuesday. The cases had gone down to 75 in State, but once again the cases seem to be on the rise due to the negligence of the people. The protocol is nowhere in force despite the administration’s repeated appeal. Even the Administration had also gone lackadaisical in enforcing the guidelines and for last few months after the cases came down there was a feeling as if the Corona has been defeated. The Chief Minister has also appealed the people to maintain social distancing and to wear masks though he has denied any proposal to impose lockdown in the state looking into the financial implication it would have on the people.

However, the chief minister maintained that the administration will be high on the violators of the Corona guidelines. Meanwhile, seven staffers working in Divisional Railway Manager’s office were found Corona positive on Tuesday. Six staffers were from Personnel Department and one female staffer from Railway Protection Force. Official sources have confirmed that 5 male and two female staffers were found corona positive and after their tests were conducted two days back. Sources alleged that the COVID protocol was not being followed in the DRM office. People even without masks were allowed entry into the office and thermal screening at the entrance of DRM office was stopped long before.

After the detection of cases entire office has been sanitised and movement towards Personnel Department has been restricted. At present 4,661 active cases are recorded in state, numbers of cases are rising in Raipur, Durg and other districts. On Tuesday 856 cases were found positive when testing of 38,853 persons were done. Eight persons died on Tuesday out of them one was Covid death and remaining seven were Co-morbid deaths. Matter of relief was 266 patients were cured and discharged. 306 positive cases were found in Raipur and 233 in Durg on Tuesday.
