Ten shops constructed illegally, on the land reserved for police station in Transport Nagar, were razed by the district administration in Kokta area on Tuesday. These illegal constructions belonged to land Mafia Babu Banjara, who had encroached upon this Government land and constructed ten shops on it. Later, he sold these shops for Rs 3 to 5 lakh each. On the instructions of District Collector Avinash Lavania, a team of district administration, Bhopal Municipal Corporation and of Police Department reached the spot and using controlled blasts and JCB machines, the shops were demolished.

The district administration officials have begun searching for other properties owned by Babu Banjara and if those are also contrary to the rules, action will be taken soon. The investigation team found that a commercial complex was being built on this residential land. After examining all the papers, it was found that all the construction was illegal and was done without permission, which was demolished through blasts. BMC’s encroachment incharge Akash Mishra said that no such documents were found in relation to the huge commercial complex, to prove permission or consent was taken prior sale.
