‘OFK to produce 500 kg bombs for IAF’s Jaguar, Sukhoi jets’

“THE Ordnance Factory Khamaria will develop state-of-art 500-kilogram general purpose bomb for the Indian Air Force in the first quarter of the new financial year. Around 125 ammunition will be produced for its proof through Jaguar and Sukhoi fighter aircrafts. Once the factory gets a green signal, indigenous production of 500 kg ammunition will be started at OFK,” informed Ravikant, General Manager, Ordnance Factory Khamaria. He was interacting with media at the sidelines of Ammunitions Expo organised on the occasion of 220th Ordnance Factory Day, on Wednesday.
 
The General Manager informed that it will first time in the history of ordnance factory that regular production of this indigenous production will be started through indigenously developed automated explosive handling plant. Five automated plants are projected to be developed in the first phase and two of them have been established and three more will be established in Patharia. The explosive automation plants are being established in technical collaboration with two private companies of Bangaluru and Pune at OFK. Utilisation of automated ammunition handling plant will be started in next 12 to 18 months. Thereafter, all the plants will be developed with the same technology.
