Commissioner of Bhilai Municipal Corporation Rituraj Raghuvanshi has convened an important meeting of all the zone commissioners and health officials here on Wednesday to chalk out strategy to curb COVID-19 cases across the city limits. As per information, he directed the BMC officials to once again initiate home testing facilities for suspected and city residents with travel history, which can be availed of through a helpline to accelerate the COVID-19 testing rate. He further instructed for sanitation in public places, meeting of representatives of businessmen, traders and committees, motivating them to apply vaccinations, charging fine of Rs 200 from those who do not wear masks, taking action against those traveling in groups without wearing masks, corona front warriors to get second vaccination and also to keep a special vigil in public places, especially in crowded areas and hotspots across city.
 
To prevent the spread of COVID-19 pandemic and also to conduct more tests and to detect more COVID-19 cases in the city, the BMC has undertaken a rapid action plan to break the chain of Covid-19 in high-risk areas and initiated rapid antigen test on BMC staffers, sanitary workers, traders, vendors etc in all zones under BMC jurisdiction. In addition, a total of 42 survey teams armed with thermal guns were carrying out door-to-door surveys on a daily basis to identify potential COVID-19 patients. The BMC officials have intensified door-to-door visits to check for people with any history of intra-state travel, anyone with COVID-19 symptoms and also tracking those discharged after showing no symptoms.
 
The BMC authority in assistance with the District Health Administration has been conducted antigen tests majorly on frontline workers, shopkeepers and vendors in containment zones and high-risk contacts. Officials from BMC authority have said that they have been focusing to conduct antigen tests on a much larger scale and these tests will majorly involve antigen kits as well as RT-PCR tests wherever it is required. The BMC officials also informed that the mobile ambulance facility has been pressed into service to carry out door-to-door screening of residents, check for fever and other symptoms, co-morbidities, and collect swabs. In addition, the mobile ambulance facility will also provide medical assistance to non-COVID patients.
