IIIT-NR’s Siddharth, Anmol selected for Research Internship in Canada

Students of International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT)-Naya Raipur continue to compete globally as two of its final semester BTech students, Siddharth Lotia and Anmol Sharma, have been selected by Mitacs Canada for the prestigious Globalink Research Internship at Universities in Canada. They were selected through a rigorous international selection process running through several months. Mitacs is a not for profit organisation affiliated to Government of Canada that promotes research by encouraging researchers internationally. It offers research internship through its Globalink Programme to senior undergraduate students from various countries like India, China, Brazil, Australia, United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Mexico, among others.
 
It selects about 1,200 students per year globally under this programme. Siddharth and Anmol are among the few students from prestigious Indian institutes like IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Madras, NIT Trichy, BITS Pilani, Jadavpur University, etc., who have been offered this prestigious internship this year. The selected students are allotted a host University in Canada through an interview process that involves faculty members from these Universities. The host Universities allotted to Siddharth and Anmol are École de TechnologieSupérieure – Montréal, Canada and University of Calgary – Calgary, Canada, respectively.
 
During this internship, Siddharth will be working on a project titled – “IoT Systems Efficient Resources Management through Containers Orchestration”, and Anmol Sharma will be working on a project titled –“Smart Route Recommendation System for Transporting Goods in Extreme Weather”. The duration of the internship is 12 weeks, which will start in May this year. Siddharth and Anmol said that they are proud of being selected. This programme is one of the most sought after foreign internship programs by Indian students. They both would like to use this opportunity to work with foreign research teams and use this experience to pursue their higher studies abroad from reputed foreign Universities after their graduation from IIIT-NR. They expressed their thanks to the faculty and staff members of IIIT-NR for creating a globally competitive academic environment in institute of Chhattisgarh.
