NDAA forms medical panel to make players fit

IN AN attempt to provide medical assistance and produce fit and medal winning athletes, Nagpur District Athletics Association (NDAA), during its special general meeting, formed a medical committee which will look after the players’ fitness. NDAA president Gurudev Nagrale presided over the meeting. The committee headed by Dr Pinak Dande has Dr Ashish Agrawal (Sports Physiotherapist), Dr Shailesh Pangaonkar (Sports Psychologist), Dr Tejas Suryawanshi (Sports Dentistry) and Dr Meghna Kumbhare (Sports Dietician).
 
The committee will be responsible to educate athletes about proper intake of several medicines, precaution to be taken prior to any competition and after the competition. They will also be responsible to educate athletes about the ill effects of doping and how to stay away from the menace. The proposal to form a medical committee was first put up by coach Brijmohan Singh Rawat. Ramchandra Wani then submitted a detailed report after which it was deicided that Government Institute of Forensic Science will be roped in to help the cause.
 
During the meeting it was also decided to form a committee which would look into the construction work of running track at Taj Bagh, Umred Road. NDAA vice-president Nagesh Sahare will head the committee which will also have Dr Vibekanand Singh, Prof Buntiprasad Yadav, Dr Avinash Sahare, Dr Jaikumar Kshirsagar and Saikat Jordar. A committee was also formed to increase participation of athletes from North Nagpur. The committee will approach schools and colleges in North Nagpur and ask students to take up track and field sport. The committee members include Nagesh Sahare, Nikhil Wahane, Ichcha Sahare, Roshni Khobragade and Shekhar Suryawanshi. During the meeting it was also decided to take stringent action against those participating in unsanctioned marathon and cross country races, informs a press release issued by Dr Sharad Suryawanshi, Secretary NDAA.
