Life of the 16 families of village Dhamni, Baloda Bazaar has improved with the growth in their income owing to Dairy farming. The families associated to Joint Forest Management Committee Dhamni will no longer require migrating to other states for work. It is important to note that State Government has been providing better opportunities of income by connecting the JFMCs to minor forest produce collection and processing. To this context, the JFMC of village Dhamni under Baloda Bazaar Forest Division is quite efficiently running the dairy farm. All the JFMC members are landless and below poverty line.

They established the dairy farm under the Direction of Forest Department. The main features of the scheme are that all the members have made a paddock at one place with a contribution of Rs 5,000 from each member. All the works of paddocks are done with volunteering labour. There are 16 sheds for each member. One shed can accommodate four cows of one member. The Forest Department has arranged the cost of cows through cyclical fund at minimum interest rate. A total of Rs 35 lakh have been spent so far in the project. The paddock has 30 cows and all are milching with 29 calves. The dairy produces 40 litres milk per day. The cows eat Napier grass grown within the paddock.
