Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Panchayat and Rural Development Department T S Singhdeo said that the Congress Government has always worked towards uplifting the poor.

 

Minister Singhdeo claimed that India had lifted 271 million people out of poverty between 2006 and 2016 during. 271 million people were lifted out of poverty in India due to the good policy of previous United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government, he added.

 

Singhdeo cited that according to Pew Research Centre report, the coronavirus pandemic may have shrunk India’s middle-class population by 32 million and driven 75 million below the poverty line

in 2020.

 

Singhdeo tweeted, “The Congress Government has always worked towards uplifting the poor to a better standard of living and has achieved huge milestones in this endeavour. Contrary to this, the attitude of BJP has been anti people and has driven our middle class either on brink of or beneath poverty line.”
