Joint teams of RMC and Traffic Police slapped a total of Rs 49,920 fines on 523 people found roaming without masks at the public places of Capital city on Sunday. As the Covid-19 cases are growing once again with Raipur as the biggest contributor, Raipur Municipal Corporation (RMC) along with Traffic Police Department has beefed up the Covid safety protocol enforcement.
 
The traffic police personnel and RMC staffers as women self-help group members and Swacchta Didis remained present at every square, catching the citizens violating Covid-19 protocols in all ten RMC Zones. The fine has also now doubled to Rs 200. According to the report, the Zone-1 team caught 148 people without masks and slapped Rs 14,500, the Zone-2 team collected Rs 4,850 fine from 53 citizens whereas Zone-3 staffers collected Rs 6,430 fine from 64 people at several places. In the same way, 85 people were slapped with Rs 6,260 fine by the staffers of Zone-6. The Zone-7 team collected Rs 3,600 from 22 people, Zone-8 team imposed Rs 2,500 on 36 people, Zone-10 team also carried out the drive all day and caught 18 citizens without masks, and they were fined Rs 1,730. Throughout the day, 523 citizens were slapped fine and released with warnings of heftier fine in future.
