State Academy’s ace shooter Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar clinched a silver medal for India at the ISSF World Shooting Championship being held at New Delhi from March 18 to 29. Tomar won this medal in the 10 metre Air Rifle team even by scoring 14 points with his teammates Deepak Kumar (Air Force) and Pankaj Kumar (Army). With 16 points, the first position in this event was bagged by the US while Korea was on the third position. Notably, a new event has been added to the ISSF World Cup Shooting Competition. According to this, the teams that finished first and second in the qualification round will compete for the gold medal and the team which scores first 16 points wins the gold medal. Similarly, the team that finished third and fourth will compete for the bronze medal and the team that gets the first 16 points will win the bronze medal.
 
Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare Yashodhara Raje Scindia was present at the shooting championship on Sunday and she saw the performance of the players and encouraged them. Scindia gave away medal to shooters including academy’s Aishwarya Pratap Singh Tomar in the medal distribution ceremony, and congratulated all the players. The State Sports Minister said, “Tomar is a talented player of Excellence Shooting Academy in Madhya Pradesh, and he has brought laurels to not only the State but also to the country by winning this silver medal in the World Cup.”
 
She encouraged Tomar for winning a gold medal for the country in the upcoming 50 meter three position event. Chief Coach of Madhya Pradesh State Shooting Academy, Suma Shirur was also present on the occasion. Three players of Madhya Pradesh State Shooting Academy including Chinki Yadav and Sunidhi Chauhan have taken part in the World Cup. Director, Sports and Youth Welfare Pawan Jain congratulated Tomar for his achievement and said that he would win a gold medal for the country in the next event.
