PARA shooter Rubina Francis clinched a gold medal for in the 1st National Para Shooting Championship held at Faridabad in Haryana. Rubina, who is undergoing training at MP State Shooting Academy since 2015, won the yellow metal in the women’s 10-metre Air Pistol event. She scored a total of 557 points in the event while Uttar Pradesh’s Soniya Sharma scored 550 and Delhi’s Pooja Agrawal scored 549 to bag the second and third positions respectively. Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare Yashodhara Raje Scindia congratulated Rubina Francis for her achievement at the 1st National Para Shooting Championship.
 
She said that daughters like Rubina are bringing laurels to the State with their talent. Rubina has so far represented team India in eight international para-shooting championships. In 2017, she made a world record in junior category of 10-metre Air Pistol Women Team Event at World Shooting Para Sports Championship. In 2019, Rubina won a bronze medal for the country in the Para Shooting World Cup held in Croatia. She has bagged nine gold and two silver medals for Madhya Pradesh at national para shooting competitions. Rubina is coached by Jaspal Rana, Oshin Tawani and Jaywardhan Singh.
