Spot fine drive for not wearing mask was carried out in many areas in the city. Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) has collected Rs 18,000 in last two days. The civic body in order to keep the city clean has started penalising people spitting on roads last year by making them clean the spit, besides levying a fine on offenders. BMC’s Solid Waste Management Department took the decision after authorities realised that only monetary fine was not enough to check the menace of spitting.

 

The initiative was launched last year but was however lost its intensity but after COVID-19 Sunday lockdown aggressive anti-spitting campaign has been started in city. NGO volunteers have been roped in to be deployed for Anti Spitting drive in every ward where they can educate people not to spit in public places and on roads and also to raise awareness about mask wearing, hygiene etc.
