LEGENDARY playback singer Asha Bhosle is no stranger to top recognition and awards. Already owner of a generous kitty of national honours, Asha Bhosle has received another feather to add to her cap with the Maharashtra Government’s decision to confer ‘Maharashtra Bhushan’ award on her. The top award of Maharashtra has gone to a deserving legend whose musical journey is for generations.

 

Despite being in her 80s, Asha Bhosle still resembles a bubbling fountain of youth. Her versatility has offered music lovers some wonderful genre of singing. Asha’s voice modulation has been the hallmark of her long career in Hindi and Marathi film industry. Initiated into music by her legendary father Pandit Dinanath Mangeshkar, Asha managed to carve a distinct identity for herself, subtly removed from the big shadow of elder sister Lata Mangeshkar.
