Naxalites torch 17 vehicles engaged in road construction

NAXALS created menace at Kuyemari village under Dhanora police station limits of Keshkal sub division by torching vehicles engaged in road construction. The 20-kilometers stretch road is being constructed under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). Two Poclanes, six Hyvas, seven tractors, one Vybro and one shifter were charred on Thursday.
 
As per information, Amar Infrastructure is engaged in construction of road under PMGSY and 20 vehicles are deployed for work.
 
Supervisor Tejkumar Singh said labourers were having meals in afternoon when 15 to 20 armed Naxals stormed the site and pointed guns at them.
 
Naxals then enquired the names and snatched away mobile phones and purse.
 
They threatened to stop the construction work and charred the vehicles parked nearby besides threatening the workers engaged in the work. Superintendent of Police Siddharth Tiwari said Naxals torched vehicles engaged in road construction under-way under PMGSY at Kuyemari village.
 
17 vehicles, according to company, were charred and security forces have been sent to spot to ascertain the situation and to know exactly how many vehicles were charred, said the SP.
