Continuing special campaign against land mafia, a combined team of Jabalpur, the district administration and Jabalpur Municipal Corporation demolished illegal construction of Rs 10 lakh on 600 sq ft Government land amounting to Rs 12 lakh at Mohaniya Mundi Toriya under the jurisdiction of Ranjhi police station, on Saturday. The illegal construction belongs to Gopal Mahobia (59), son of Hubbilal Mahobia, a resident of Mohaniya Toriya Ranjhi.
 
It may be noted that under the direction of Madhya Pradesh Government, a special campaign has been started against persons involved in black marketing, food adulteration, land mafia, chit-fund companies and illegal money launders. In the special campaign, police learnt that a habitual criminal named Gopal Mahobia illegally constructed a building amounting to Rs. 10 lakh to grab 600 sq ft Government land amounting to Rs. 12 lakh.
 
The accused was involved in raping an 8-year-old girl and also booked in two cases of attack. Taking prompt action on the information, a combine team of District Administration, Police and Jabalpur Municipal Corporation led by senior police and administrative officers reached the spot and razed the illegal construction to evacuate the Government land. In order to avoid any kind of agitation, additional police force was deployed during the demolition work. During the demolition, CSP, Ranjhi, Mohammed Israr Mansuri, Tehsildar, Shyam Chandel, SHO of Ranjhi police station, RK Malviya, Reserve Inspector, Rajendra Sen, Harshvardhan, JMC Deputy Commissioner, Vedprakash and anti-encroachment team of JMC was present.
