Chhattisgarh sets another record under MGNREGA, wherein, the highest numbers of families were provided 100 days of employment. So far, 5.54 lakh families have got employment of 100 days this year, Chhattisgarh ranks fifth in the country for providing 100 days employment to the highest number of families. Chhattisgarh is setting new records one after the other in implementation of MGNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act). Chhattisgarh has bagged a new record of providing 100 days of employment to the maximum number of families this year in the current financial year 2020-21, along with generating the highest number of employment in person-days, ever since MGNREGA came into existence in year 2006-07.
 
This year, employment of 100 days has been provided to 5,54,322 families. Chhattisgarh ranks fifth in the entire country in terms of providing 100 days of employment to maximum number of families under MNREGA. Only Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal are ahead of Chhattisgarh in this case. The number of MGNREGA job card-holder families in these states and the target of employment generation set by the Government of India is much higher than Chhattisgarh. More than 17.66 crore person-days of employment have been created in State so far this year, which is the highest since the implementation of MGNREGA. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Minister of Panchayat and Rural Development T S Singhdeo have praised and congratulated the departmental officers, MGNREGA team and panchayat representatives for their outstanding performance in MNREGA. He said that with the dedication and awareness of Panch-Sarpanchs and the activeness of MGNREGA field teams, adequate employment opportunities were created in the villages during the COVID crisis this year. Migrant workers who have returned to State in the times of crisis have also been provided a large number of jobs through MGNREGA.
 
Hundred days of employment has been provided to 2.43 lakh, 1.73 lakh, 3.23 lakh, 4.28 lakh and 4.18 lakh families respectively in the last five financial years from 2015-16 to 2019-20 in the state. So far this year, this figure has reached more than 5.54 lakh. In the current financial year Rajnandgaon district has provided 100 days of employment to the maximum number of families i.e. 47 lakh 948 MNREGA job-holder families. Likewise, the number of families provided 100 days of employment in various districts is as follows 32,007 in Bilaspur, 31,350 in Gariaband, 28,656 in Surajpur, , in Kabirdham, 26,577 in Kanker, 26,276 in Jashpur, , in Mahasamund, 23,094 in Dhamtari, 22,652 in Balodabazar-Bhatapara, 21,999 in Koriya, 21,192 in Balod, 21,105 in Mungeli, 20,975 in Balrampur-Ramanujganj and 20,731 families in Raipur, 18,455 in Gaurella-Pendra-Marwahi, 18,185 in Janjgir-Champa, 14,892 in Surguja, 14,150 in Durg, 13,452 in Korba, 12,944 in Bijapur, 11,829 in Raigarh, 11,301 in Sukma, 10,704 in Kondagaon, 9,846 in Bemetara, 8,851 in Dantewada, 8,806 in Bastar and 3,336 families in Narayanpur district have been provided 100 days of employment under MNREGA this year.
