SHRI Shankaracharya Institute of Professional Management and Technology (SSIPMT), Raipur attained success in patenting a device design called ‘Rotatable laptop base stand with screen’. The design was devised by the institute’s faculties of Department of Computer Science and Engineering. The main feature of this patent is that a computer user can attach an additional portable monitor along with his computer screen. With the help of multipurpose design, the screen can also be seen by the person sitting in the opposite side of user.

 

Inspiration to patent this design was found because of the inconvenience caused by Covid-19 with the purpose of maintaining the norms in offices, reading, teaching and entertainment etc. With its help, online class will also help in providing facilities like offline classes. By using an extra portable screen, the user will not need to buy a new machine. In this way, this design can bring a revolutionary change in the future. The process of patenting this design started four months ago. During the patenting process, the design of the model was officially filed after making practical updates in the design part, after rigorous testing. In patenting this model, the Principal of SSIPMT Dr Alok Jain, Head of the CSE Department Dr J P Patra and Ashish Pandey played important roles.

 

The patent team also included Gurudutt Verma, Anand Tamarkar, Deepak Rao Khadatkar, Sumitra Samal, Preeti Tuli, Kaveri Kar and Tania Jain. Chairman of the college Nishant Tripathi congratulated on the successful publication of the patent by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. He said that the institute appreciates effort and apart from regular engineering course SSIPMT is always working for progressive steps on the path of innovation, research and entrepreneurship. He expressed his gratitude and assured of his support to promote such works in future also.
