No of tests conducted in district declines for second consecutive day
 
Cumulative recovery rate of district improves slightly from 80.35% on Saturday to 80.48% on Sunday 
 
Even as the State Government has imposed fresh curbs and mulling over stricter implementation of guidelines, the situation in Nagpur district continues to be a cause of concern. On Sunday, the district recorded 58 deaths and 3,970 fresh cases of COVID-19. While it was the biggest number of deaths in one single day this year, the number of new cases was the second biggest single-day tally. As per the reports, the national average weekly positivity rate for COVID-19 was 5.04 per cent and that of Maharashtra was a high 22.78 per cent.

Nagpur district’s positivity rate on Sunday alone was 24.57 per cent, which was much higher than weekly national average as well as weekly State average. The city’s positivity rate on Sunday was 26.95 per cent, and that of rural areas of district was 19.52 per cent. Even the cumulative positivity rate of the city was 14.60 per cent, and that of rural areas was 11.04 per cent. This was the situation in the district despite decline in number of tests conducted for second consecutive day. On March 26, as many as 17,625 tests were conducted in the district including 11,669 in Nagpur city and 5,956 in rural areas of district. On March 27 (Saturday), the number of tests conducted dipped to 16,535 including 11,407 in city and 5,128 in rural areas. On Sunday, the number of tests conducted in the district dipped further to 16,155 including 10,945 in city and 5,210 in rural areas.

Thus, on Sunday, the number of tests conducted in city dipped by 462, and those conducted in rural areas rose by marginal 82. As a result, in net impact, the total number of tests conducted in the district as a whole dipped by 380. Nagpur district recorded 58 deaths including 37 in Nagpur city alone, 18 in rural areas, and three of persons from outside the district. With this, the cumulative death toll rose to 4,931 including 3,153 in Nagpur city, 935 in rural areas, and 843 deaths of persons from outside the district. As far as cumulative death rate is concerned, it reduced slightly on Sunday as compared to Saturday.
 
On March 27, the cumulative death rate of the district was 2.27 per cent, which dipped to 2.25 per cent on Sunday. However, it was still on higher side as compared to national average of 1.35 per cent. Recovery rate also improved slightly. On Saturday, the recovery rate of the district was 87.5 per cent. It improved to 87.63 per cent on Sunday. With some improvement in number of recoveries, the cumulative recovery rate improved to 80.48 per cent on Sunday, from 80.35 per cent on Saturday. Still, it was much lesser than national average recovery rate of 94.59 per cent. Nagpur district recorded 3,970 new cases on Sunday (including 2,950 from city, 1,017 from rural areas, and three from outside district). The same day, the district recorded 3,479 recoveries including 2,824 from city and 655 from rural areas.
