People of Nagpur district are experiencing scare of coronavirus. The only solace they experienced on Wednesday was when Guardian Minister Dr Nitin Raut declared that no strict lockdown would be imposed and people would continue to run their businesses from April 1 onwards with night curfew to continue. People heaved a sigh of relief as the decision of Guardian Minister would save them from facing financial crisis. Despite all efforts from frontline healthworkers, administrators, the COVID-19 deaths have continued to rise and Wednesday was no exception as it witnessed deaths close to 60 deaths.
 
The single day COVID-19 death count on Wednesday stood at 58 of which four persons were the residents of the places from outside Nagpur district. Nagpur rural has reported 21 victims while city’s single day count rose to 33 taking the cumulative death count to 5,098. Of the cumulative death count, 854 were the residents of the places from outside Nagpur district. There is a slight dip in new COVID-19 cases in one single day as on Wednesday 2,885 persons in district tested positive for coronavirus. Of the 2,885 cases, 4 are from outside Nagpur district. Nagpur rural registered 997 new cases while 1,884 tested positive for this dreaded virus in city. With these, the cumulative positive cases reached 2,26,038. Number of persons becoming corona-free has come down to 1,705. This has taken the cumulative recovery to 1,81,609. The recovery rate is experiencing the fluctuation.
 
On Tuesday, the recovery rate was slightly up, but on Wednesday it witnessed a dip as it stood at 80.34%. The low recovery rate has resulted into rise in active cases. The active cases have increased to 39,331. The testing count in district on Wednesday has witnessed whopping rise by 12,000 as 16,086 samples were examined for corona test at various laboratories in Nagpur. Nagpur rural reported 5,591 testing while city has registered 10,495 testing. This has taken the cumulative testing number to 16,24,277.The samples examined through RT PCR were 12,556 while 3,530 were through Rapid Antigen Test. Apart from the samples of Nagpur district, the people from Nagpur and out of city approached various laboratories in Nagpur to get themselves examined.
 
The samples came for examination at various laboratories in Nagpur include virology laboratory of Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) (724), Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) (1,633), molecular diagnostic laboratory of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) (1,343), National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) (285), Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) (518) private laboratories (8,053), Antigen (3,530).
