Madhya Pradesh reported the biggest spurt of 4,882 daily COVID-19 infections on Friday, crossing the 4,000 figure for the third consecutive day.

With Friday’s addition, the State now has over 3.27 lakh confirmed infections and 23 more fatalities, pushed the death toll to 4,136. Just in the first nine days of this month, Madhya Pradesh has detected more than 31,000 cases, adding, on an average, 3,000 cases every day, data released by the State Government shows.

The tally of active cases has breached the 30,000 mark which is a matter of profound concern for the State Health Department. The positivity percentage is as high as 13.0 per cent and the active case load of 30,486 patients is enough to overwhelm the health facilities in the State. If figures are any indicator then the state health department has to make preparations on war-footing in the view of current rise in corona cases. The health experts have opined to take precautionary measures as this sudden increase in numbers of coronavirus infection can prove fatal owing to the several mutations the virus underwent.

Indore and Bhopal districts witnessed a single day spike of 887 and of 736 cases respectively. The number of people who have recovered from the disease has reached 2,92,598 pushing the state recovery rate to 89.41 per cent, while the COVID-19 case fatality rate stands at 1.26 per cent.
