A frightful surge of 4,563 corona positive cases in Chhattisgarh on Wednesday late evening once again sent shivers down the spine of the entire Health Department machinery, thereby concurrently taking the total active case to 25,529.
The total number of active cases recorded on Wednesday corresponds with the August 27, 2020 spike, when State accounted for 25,988 cases. The dreaded similarity of upsurge in the active cases is a worrisome situation, since Chhattisgarh today recorded for over 3.49 lakh active cases ever since the global pandemic broke out.

The fateful day also marked 28 mortalities all over State, with Raipur alone recording highest nine, followed by Durg with 7, Dhamtari 4, Mahasamund 3 and 1 each in Balod, Bemetara, Bilaspur, Raigarh and Koriya. Factually speaking, 8 deaths were only caused due to Covid-19, whereas, the remaining 20 were attributed to co-morbidity factors.

Situation is alarming given the statistical facts since against a total of 38,420 tests undertaken in the state on Saturday, around 1,200 Corona positive cases are surfacing behind per 10,000 tests. So there is a possibility of a successive spike in corona positive cases in the lights of fact the Health Department is gearing up to ramp up testing speed at an all time high in coming days.

As per the state-wide bulletin released by the Health Department, alone Raipur and Durg districts contributed for 2490 fresh cases out of the total surge, wherein Raipur today led the tally with highest 1291 cases and thereby leaving behind the so-far hot-spot Durg district on second spot with 1,199 cases. For the first time since the resurgence of Covid-19 second wave in State, Durg district missed the dreaded ‘hotspot’ tag with a bare minimum margin of
92 cases only. According to the bulletin, the other fast emerging hotspots in Chhattisgarh, as per the state-wide bulletin released by the Health Department, are Rajanandgaon with 400 fresh cases, followed by Bilaspur 224, Bemetara 141, Dhamtari 130, Mahasamund 129, Balod 119 and Baloda Bazaar 101.

Apropos is the situation with other districts, which is inching fast towards 100 plus cases per day in the state. These districts primarily include Surguja 97, Bastar 85, Korba 76, Kabirdham 72, Surajpur 67, Raigarh 63, Janjgir-Champa 62, Koriya 55 and Jashpur 54. Few other districts, which off late are now recording 50 or near 50 plus cases per day are Mungeli 47, Gariaband 41, Kanker 36 and Balrampur 27. Most importantly, few districts of Bastar division which are so far considered to be safer areas as well as away from the reach of Covid-19 spike – within range of below 20 cases per day, includes only Kondagaon, which recorded only 14 fresh cases on Saturday. Furthermore, restive Narayanpur and Bijapur districts recorded 4 cases each whereas Dantewada and Sukma contributed only 2 cases each today. More over 67 persons were discharged from hospital, 772 were discharged from home and total number of cured patient on the day is 839.
