Distt registers new all-time high of 6,489 positive cases

On Friday, Nagpur district registered new all-time high of 6,489 COVID-19 positive cases. Even the city’s count that stood at 4,016 too is highest. In Nagpur rural 2,466 persons tested positive for this dreaded virus. This has taken the cumulative new COVID-19 cases to 2,66,224 (including 1,088 persons from outside the district).
 
Everyday count of COVID deaths has continued to haunt the district administration. Today also district has witnessed 64 deaths due to this dreaded virus with seven persons were the residents of outside Nagpur district. Nagpur rural witnessed 20 deaths due to coronavirus while 37 persons succumbed to the infection of the virus taking the cumulative COVID-19 death count to 5,641. Of the cumulative death number, 900 persons were the residents of places from outside Nagpur district.
 
Number of persons becoming corona-free has come down drastically. Today’s number of persons recovered is less than half the number of persons tested positive for coronavirus. Today, 2,175 became corona-free in Nagpur district taking the cumulative recovery to 2,11,236. The recovery rate too has reduced drastically to 79.35%.
 
The low recovery has resulted in increasing the number of active cases. Today’s number of active cases reached close to 50,000. With 49,347 active cases, beds in all the hospitals got occupied. People are finding it difficult to get a single bed in any hospital. District is facing shortage of oxygen, number of Remdesivir injections too is not adequate.
Number of testing reported on Friday is too all-time high as total count read 22,797. Of the 22,797 testing, Nagpur rural has registered 9,539 testing while city reported 13,258 testing taking the cumulative testing count to 17,80,571.
The samples examined through RTPCR were 17,042 while 5,755 were through Rapid Antigen Test.
 
Apart from the samples of Nagpur district, the people from Nagpur and out of city approached various laboratories in Nagpur to get themselves examined. The samples came for examination at various laboratories in Nagpur include virology laboratory of Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) (2,304), Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) (2,523), molecular diagnostic laboratory of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) (1,983), National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) (339), Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) (896) private laboratories (8,997), Antigen (5,755).

RSS chief Dr Bhagwat tests +ve
Dr Mohan Bhagwat, Sarsanghchalak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday. His samples were collected after he complained of cold and cough on Friday. As his RTPCR test came positive, he was admitted to Kingsway Hospital. His condition was stable.
