As COVID-19 cases in Nagpur are setting new highs each passing day, the availability of beds in Government as well as private hospitals is reaching saturation point. Considering this, some beds in Super Specialty Hospital (SSH) at Amravati have been reserved for patients from Nagpur.

Ravindra Thakare, District Collector, said that already 12 patients were shifted to Amravati SSH on Thursday. The critical patients or their relatives from rural areas of Nagpur district facing difficulties in hospitalisation, may contact 24x7 control room at Collectorate on telephone number 0712-2562668 or toll-free number 1077. The officer on duty will guide the patients/their relatives to hospitals where beds are available, he said.

Considering the spike in number of COVID-19 cases in rural areas of Nagpur district, some oxygenated beds will be made available in next two to three days at Katol, Kamptee, Walni, Kanhan, Mouda, and Bhiwapur. “Patients with lower than desired oxygen level will be admitted there. However, patients having oxygen level below 90 will be shifted from these places to Nagpur,” said Thakare.
According to the District Collector, oxygen for medical use was available amply and there was no complaint regarding lack of it. From Bhilai also, liquid oxygen is being received every alternate day, he added. Further, private RTPCR test laboratories in the district are being inspected to sort out issues relating to data, billing, and to curb alleged malpractices, he said.

“While the administration is making efforts to increase number of hospital beds in the district, citizens also need to understand that there are limits to number of beds, oxygenated beds, ventilators etc. Hence, they should also be alert and get themselves tested early on in case of symptoms. COVID-19 can be defeated together,” Thakare appealed to the people.
