NEWAI police busted a gang of thieves and took six including two minors into custody along with recovery of booty worth over Rs 3.25 lakh from their possession in Risali, Bhilai. The accused were sent to jail while juveniles were remanded to correction home after they were produced in the court. Police sources informed that the four accused arrested by police were identified as P Shekhar and Vivek Soni, both residents of Sector-6, Bhilai; Sanjay Giri, a resident of Mayanagari, Ruabandha, Bhilai and Pravesh Sakule, a resident of Risali Basti, Bhilai. Police said that on Saturday, after a tip off a Newai police team swung into action and apprehended one Vivek Soni for question following reports about his suspicious movement in Risali area with others.
 
During interrogation in police custody Vivek Soni confessed his involvement in various thefts occurred in Risali area of Bhilai and also disclosed name of his accomplices. In the connection including the prime accused Vivke Soni police rounded up six with two minors and also recovered stolen gold and silver jewelries, cash and other valuables on instances of the gang members. The police said that among the gang members Vivek Soni used to work for online supply services for food parcel and he used committing thefts and burglaries after conducting recce during work. The police have registered an offence against accused under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code and are investigating to initiate legal action.
