Police stay ‘out’ all day to ensure people stay ‘in’

To ensure citizens comply with lockdown norms, police remained on toes throughout the day, on Saturday. Since morning, police remained vigilant. Additional police personnel were deployed at all important squares and crossings to check unnecessary public movement. Senior police officials also remain watchful and made continuous tours to different areas of the city. The State Government had declared a 60-hour lockdown, which on Saturday has been extended to April 22, to put check on increasing COVID-19 cases.
 
Now, lockdown which came into effect at 6 pm, on Friday will remain effective till April 22. Following lockdown all streets of the city remain deserted. Police have done barricading at special points and also marched to streets and asked people to remain indoor. Superintendent of Police Siddharth Bahuguna also took to streets and urged people not to step out of home unnecessarily.
 
Police allowed people on streets only for availing essential services, while those who were caught roaming unnecessarily were penalised. Commercial activities were also restricted completely. The district administration and Police Department have made elaborate arrangements to ensure proper law and order situation in the city. Senior police and administrative officials are keeping constant watch on every activity in the city.
