Mandir Hasaud police have arrested two persons along with huge quantities of foreign and country-made liquor. “Following a tip-off that a vehicle carrying huge quantities of liquor heading towards Reva-Kukra road, a police team from Mandir Hasaud swung into action and intercepted the Multi-Utility Vehicle (CG 04 H 4365) at village Reva resulting in recovery of illegally liquor.
 
During search, the police team recovered country-made and English liquor from the vehicle and the accused duo failed to furnish any documents supporting the transportation of alcohol in such a quantity,” said police sources. The estimated market value of the seized liquor would be over Rs 54,000, added police sources. Police sources further informed that the arrested smugglers were identified as Santosh Yadav (54) and Tikam Chand Sahu (43), both residents of Arang. In preliminary investigation, it was learnt by police that the accused bootleggers were transporting the liquor illegally for selling it during lockdown in Mandir Hasaud area. The MUV used in the crime was also seized by the police. In this connection, Mandir Hasaud police have booked the duo under relevant Section of Excise Act. The arrested bootleggers were produced in a local court from where they were sent to judicial custody.
