 Resident doctors staging dharna with a will to get better
treatment to the patients. They will be meeting Municipal Commissioner on Monday to press the demand of
streamlining the healthcare system.

Who among the healthworkers are the most affected of the pandemic? They are the Resident doctors who not only have to prepare for their examinations but also have to handle the responsibility of the patients. They are real frontline healthworkers at this juncture. Unfortunately, they are missing the learning of treating non-COVID patients. The pandemic has compelled them to attend only COVID patients and it would make them suffer in future as a professional medico.
 
The ones who have opted surgery branch failed to perform a single surgery. Now, with every single patient thronging the hospitals that too Government Medical Colleges, these Residents got fed up. There is no control of administration on the number of COVID positive approaching the GMCs. All these things have made the residents to launch their agitation initially by staging dharna. The doctors staged dharna at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) and Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) In its statement the Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) said, “Since past few days the condition of medicine casualty is getting worst leading to stoppage of intake of patients, thus hampering the delivery of healthcare to the patients (non-COVID, COVID) which is not acceptable in the tertiary health care system.
 
District Administration is letting patients die by ignoring permanent solution this grave crisis. We are Government institution and general poor public look upto us for treatment, against this backdrop, denying treatment to patients can be termed as sinful act. We demand permanent solution from district administration for this crisis.” The MARD in its letter further made it clear, “We voluntarily have decided to do 'Sit in' (Dharna) without Hampering the COVID and non-COVID healthcare, if permanent solution for this crisis is not thought. Permanent solution is necessary for better patient care and non hostile environment for caregiver as well. The dharna is not inspired by any association. It is for patients and their caregivers.
