District witnesses close to 4,000 single day recoveries

Wednesday came with a good news of good COVID recovery rate. Today, close to 4,000 persons became corona-free in Nagpur district. With these many recoveries, the cumulative number reached 2,28,071. But surge in novel coronavirus active cases continued as, on Wednesday, the number stood at 63,005. Today, the number of single day COVID-19 cases reduced to 5,993 (five persons are from outside Nagpur district). Of these, 2,375 persons tested positive for coronavirus in Nagpur rural while 3,613 new cases were registered in city taking the cumulative new cases to 2,28,071 (1,112 persons who tested positive in Nagpur are the residents of the places outside Nagpur district). There is a slight reduction in number of COVID deaths.

Today 57 succumbed to the virus in the district (Five persons were the residents of places outside Nagpur district). Nagpur rural has witnessed 17 deaths while 35 became victims to this dreaded virus in city. This has taken the cumulative deaths to 5,960 of which 930 persons who died in the district were the residents of the various places outside Nagpur district. Though laboratories have not accepted any new sample in last two days as per Government order, most laboratories were overloaded and kept examining the samples they had collected in last few days. Dr Dinesh Agrawal, well-known Pathologist pointed out that the laboratories had over 3,000 samples each so the work of examination has not stopped even though they are not accepting new samples.

Of course there is quite a good reduction in number of testing by 8,000. Today’s count stood at 21,558 of which Nagpur rural has registered 7,633 testing while city has registered 13,925 testing. With these the cumulative testing reached 18,94,971. The samples examined through RTPCR were 14,475 while 7,083 were through Rapid Antigen Test. Apart from the samples of Nagpur district, the people from Nagpur and out of city approached various laboratories in Nagpur to get themselves examined. The samples came for examination at various laboratories in Nagpur include virology laboratory of Indira Gandhi Government Medical College and Hospital (IGGMCH) (0), Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) (1,834), molecular diagnostic laboratory of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) (0), National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) (0), Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) (0) private laboratories (10,913), Antigen (7,083).
