If need arises, oxygen can be sought from Rourkela, Bhilai by rail: CM

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that oxygen, injections and beds are being arranged in State as per requirement for control of corona infection and proper treatment of patients. Discussion has also been held with Union Railway Minister for supply of oxygen from other states to Madhya Pradesh, as a result of which oxygen can be sought from Rourkela and Bhilai by rail if need arises. Efforts are being made to get oxygen supply from Himachal and Maharashtra. Presently, 120 metric tonnes of oxygen is being received unhindered from Gujarat daily. If necessary, helicopters will be used to deliver injections to various places in the state.

He held detailed discussions in Mantralaya with Chief Secretary Iqbal Singh Bains, Additional Chief Secretary Health Mohammad Suleman and all other concerned senior officials regarding prevention and better management of corona infection in the State. He said that it is our prime responsibility to ensure that people are protected from corona infection. There should be no dearth of arrangements. With our efforts, arrangements should be improvised and people’s morale should also get a boost. This situation of calamity should come to an end soon. State Government has been making continuous efforts to break chain of infection while facing challenges and difficulties. These efforts will continue. Number of beds has increased to 36,000 in the state. Covid Care Centers have also become operational in the districts. He told media representatives after planting saplings in the Smart Garden in Bhopal that 280 metric tonne oxygen is currently available in State. Efforts are being made not to use oxygen unnecessarily. Efforts are being made to provide up to 500 metric tonne oxygen per day to the State.
