Opportunity for city coaches; NIS Patiala to conduct 6-week certificate course in June

COACHES from Nagpur have an opportunity to enrol themselves and get certificates in coaching by the renowned Sports Authority of India’s Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports. The premier coaching institution of the country will be conducting six-week certificate course in sports coaching under mass sports participation prorgamme in the month of June. There are several coaches in Nagpur who are imparting coaching without any diploma or certificate. This certificate course will help Nagpur coaches in getting jobs in schools and colleges as the course is recognised by Ministry of Youth Services and Sports.

The six-week certificate course will be held from June 21 to August 3, states a notification issued by SAI NSNIS recently. The date for filing of application is April 19 and the last date of submission form and depositing of fees is May 18. The last date for receipt of application by post is May 25. The forms of all the applicants, aged between 20 and 42 years, will be assessed till June 16 and the final list of selected candidates will be published on June 18. Online classes will be held from 21 June to 13 July while those selected will have to report at the centre on 19 July from when practical teaching classes will be held. The Theory Exam will be conducted on 30 July while Practicals will be held from July 31 till 3 August. The certificates to successful candidates will be distributed on 3 August.
 
The course will be for men and women having passion in coaching or working in schools, colleges, universities, industrial houses and other agencies associated with sports. The course will be held in archery, athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing, fencing, football, gymnastics, handball, hockey, judo, kabaddi, kho-kho, swimming, taekwon-do, table tennis, tennis, volleyball, weightlifting, wrestling, wushu, yoga, canoeing and kayaking and rowing. Criteria: A candidate should be Standard XII pass and should have finished on the podium in school district championship or inter-college university or in the competition conducted by the district association of concerned sports disciplined.
 
A candidate having a bachelor degree in education and have finished on the podium in State championships or zonal inter-university level or junior zonal level competitions conducted by concerned sports federation can also apply. Similarly, those who have a bachelor's degree in science, physical education, sports, post graduate plus graduate and diploma in physical education/sports and who have finished on the podium in junior national/all India Inter-university level, zonal senior championships or tournaments or participated in senior national championship will also be eligible. Preference will be given to those having Master's degree in other than physical education and sports and have a podium finish in senior national championship and those who have master's degree in in physical education and sports or M.Phil. in physical education and sports or Ph.D. in physical education and sports. Those sportspersons who have represented India at International level will be considered top in merit list provided he/she meets minimum educational qualification, states the notification issued by Dr IP Nagi, Deputy Director SAI, Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports, Old Motibag, Patiala.
