Rajnandgaon/Raipur,

Asserting that the ruling Congress Government has passed all limits of insensitivity the Bharatiya Janata Party has alleged that the Government has failed completely in public accountability during this hour of crisis. Addressing a virtual press conference, the BJP National Vice-President and former Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh said the current spike in COVID-19 positive cases is very dangerous which is not even sparing children and youths. Medicines are also becoming less effective gradually. The COVID situation in Chhattisgarh has become frightening with over 1,28,000 active cases and over 12,000 cases detected on a daily basis. Sunday was the worst with 170 deaths in a day which is a matter of grave concern.

No beds are available in hospitals and dead bodies are subjected to dishonor and people are struggling to get the mortal remains of their loved ones in 3-4 days. Dr Singh while expressing his deep concern over COVID recovery rate in Chhattisgarh which is 74% against the national average of 95%, said due to negligence and inefficiency of the state government the infection is spreading like wildfire. Dr Singh said the situation is so miserable that dead bodies are transported in garbage van. This incident can be termed as the height of insensitivity and ashamed of the state. Dr Singh said he along with Rajnandgaon MP Santosh Pandey had held discussions with Rajnandgaon district administration for installation of 10 ventilators and along with arrangement of oxygen cylinders and appointment of para-medical staff. Unfortunately nine days have passed since but the district administration has failed to appoint a ventilator operator, forget about implementation of other things.

Dr Singh alleged that the administrative system has virtually collapsed. He said everyday he holds telephonic discussions with people across State from both urban and rural areas and it came to fore that testing is the biggest problem in rural areas and slow speed of inoculation drive is leading to high surge in COVID-19 positive cases. Testing results are delivered after 5 days and during these five days the infected persons spread infection in rural areas. Laying emphasis on COVID-19 inoculation drive, Dr Singh said the BJP not only levels allegations but its every party worker is actively working for the service of people. Taking a jibe at the State Government over absence of Health Minister in the all-party meeting, Dr Singh said the Congress Government is playing politics in whichever meeting the Health Minister has to play a significant role.

While the party is unable to strike proper coordination the head of the State has flopped completely. Talking about heavy surge in Rajnandgaon district, Dr Singh said despite the state borders Maharashtra the state government failed drastically to pay proper attention towards this district. However, playing the role of a strong opposition, he himself and the Rajnandgaon MP is standing with the people of Rajnandgaon in this hour of crisis. Lashing out at State Government for issuing notification where it is written that Rs 2,500 can be charged by private hospitals for storage and transportation of dead bodies. Terming that the ruling Congress government is harmful for democracy and humanity, the former Chief Minister said the BJP will be carrying out a major agitation on April 24 across the state to highlight this failure of this Government.
