AMID spread of COVID-19 pandemic it is certainly heartening news that Ringni village Panchayat is successfully maintaining zero case while two other villages Mohandi and Nandouri are looking forward to eliminate pandemic by monitoring case and regular sanitisation across villages under Dhamdha block in Durg. It needs a mention that Sarpanchs from these villages along with Panchayat army of Anganbadi, Mitanin and Bihan Samuh members are putting in efforts to beat the pandemic. They are ensuring effective compliance of COVID protocols, regular sanitization, awareness campaigns and cent percent vaccination as per the criteria. There was no COVID death in these three villages since the spread.
 
Though not much populated yet these villages are setting examples that efforts at micro level are bound to bring around desirable change across the region. Ketki Yadav, Ringni village Sarpanch informed that since last year they have been active and there was zero COVID case in the village. With the second wave there was one case but now the person has been tested negative and Ringni village is COVID free now. With regular campaigns for strict compliance of COVID protocols and thorough vaccination in the age group they are also ensuring sanitisation of villages. She also said that as the cases being reported from surrounding villages Surdung, Nardha and Dadar they are fortifying the villages by encouraging villagers to use farm produce of their own village, avoid venturing out even in the village or traveling to other villages until it is urgent and if necessary always stuck to all the directives.
 
Atmaram Yadav, Secretary, Panchayat of Mohandi village informed that there were four positive cases last year and in the second wave a villager was detected positive a day before. COVID positive patient has been home isolated and they are ensuring regular monitoring. He also added that in case villagers lack home isolation, Panchayat facilitates it to check transmission. Geetanjali Verma, Sarpanch, Nadouri village of Dhamdha block said that recently six COVID positive cases have been detected but the village Panchayat along with its army is serving in committed manner to bring down the case to zero and effectively checking the spread among villagers. They monitor the case and consult the doctor for medication.
