WITH increase in COVID cases in the block, need of opening new COVID centres has increased in Pandaria and Kukdoor. The local businessmen and renowned people of the society have written a letter to minister and district administration to open new COVID centres at rural areas. According to information received, in last few days, there has been sudden spike in number of COVID cases in the district and there is need of COVID centres in the rural areas. As per sources, there is only one COVID centre in district hospital which is nearly 70 to 80 kilometres away from the block. The patients are reportedly facing difficulty in reaching the COVID centres. Many patients have died on the way to reach hospital.
 
Taking cognizance of the situation, the local businessmen have written a letter to senior minister and district administration and also uploaded the request on social media highlighting the problems of the people residing in the rural area. The businessmen have also put forward the proposal of donating cylinders for the COVID centres. Following this, the members of Chamber of Commerce of Pandaria have donated Rs 2 lakh for oxygen cylinder.
 
The businessmen of Kunda village also donated 8 oxygen cylinders to the health department and demanded to open new COVID centres in the village. SDM D R Dahire said that the administration was planning to open new COVID centre near ITI College in Pandaria and convert the Community Health Centre of Kukdoor into COVID centre. “The newly constructed Polytechnic College building will also be converted into temporary COVID centre. The proposal has been sent to the Collector and the administration is waiting for approval,” added SDM.
