IN a major action, betting slips worth Rs 19.68 lakh were recovered from a man in Railway Colony. The accused was engaged in betting during IPL cricket match between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR). The accused has been identified as Shivnand Sagar (28) and cash Rs 20,200, two mobile phones, LED tv, remotes and register containing transactions of match were recovered from him.
 
The accused has been charged under section 4 A of the Gambling Act. Police was tipped-off that a man is indulged in betting at a house in Railway Colony. Matter was informed to higher authorities who instructed for action. A team of police personnel, led by Kotwali SHO Eman Sahu, raided the house and arrested the man identified as Sagar. He was engaged in betting through mobile phone. SI Arun Namdeo, ASI Neelambar Nag, Head Constable Chovdas Gendle and Constable Ravi Thakur were involved in action.
