Six arrested for betting on IPL

Acting on a precise tip-off, Khamtarai police have arrested six persons allegedly indulged in cricket betting and recovered Rs 1.45 lakh from them. “Following an input that few persons are taking bets on a match played between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders at WRS Colony, a police team from Khamtarai swung into action and arrested six punters from the colony’s Mahatma Gandhi Garden this evening. From the possession of arrested gamblers, police have seized Rs 1.45 lakh, six mobile handsets and betting details worth lakhs,” said Khamtarai police. Police further informed that the arrested were identified as Jiteshwar Sinha (23), Subham Sharma (24), Manglesh Singh (22), Haresh Khan (24), residents of Khamtarai, Ganesh Rao (24) of Fafadih, and Sonu Verma (29), a resident of Pandri. Police have booked the arrested accused under the relevant Section of Gambling Act and launched a probe to ascertain others associated with them.
