‘Janata Curfew’ extended till May 1 as cases rising rapidly

As covid-19 cases are rising continuously in the city, the district administration following fresh directions of the State Home Department, on Sunday extended ‘Janata Curfew’ till 6 am on May 1. Earlier, the lockdown was enforced till 6 am, on April 26. During Janata Curfew, markets will remain closed. Apart from essential services all other activities will be restricted completely. During lockdown period, daily activities, private and Government organisations, shops, hotels, establishments and all types of general movement will be restricted.
 
Prohibitory orders issued by Collector Karmveer Sharma has cleared that except milk, chemist shops and hospitals, all types of retail and wholesale shops, all markets, clubs, gardens, restaurants, catering shops, mandis would remain closed. Bulk transportation of essential commodities, transportation of industrial units and its workers and personnel, transportation of industrial raw materials and products, transport of sick persons, trucks, dumpers coming from outside and movement for airport, railway station and bus stand will be allowed during lockdown.
 
The Government has taken the step to break the chain of coronavirus. It has given some relaxation to shops and public movement. Accordingly, Sabji Mandi (wholesale vegetable markets), vegetable markets would be opened from 4 am to 8 am. Likewise, ration shops would be allowed to do home delivery. Meanwhile, Collector Sharma has asked all Executive Magistrates and police officers to ensure strictly compliance of prohibitory orders. He also directed to take action under sections 51 to 60 of the Disaster Management Act 2005 and Section 188 of the IPC and other legal provisions against those violating the orders.
