RAIPUR,

Prime Minister Narendra Modi interacted with a nurse Bhawna Dhruv of Dr B R Ambedkar Memorial Hospital (BRAMH) in Mann Ki Baat programme over telephone on Sunday. During interaction PM Modi asked about her experience working successfully with the Covid patients despite so many responsibilities of her family and multitasks, she is involved in, as the Prime Minister wanted to share it with the listeners as nurses are the one who spend a long time with patients during treatment in the hospitals.

Bhawna Dhruv, explained that she had spent about one year time with the Covid patients. She said that she works for 14 days and after that they are allowed 14 days rest. She joined duty in May 2020 at the time her daughter was worried and it was a very emotional time for her. Her parents were also worried for her. During duty she had to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kit and it was very difficult for her to perform duty with the PPE kit on. She served Covid patients in different wards and ICU. She interacted with Covid patients and helped remove their stigma and motivated them psychologically. She gave them a healthy environment to dispel their fear. Patients were afraid of corona and out of fear they used to avoid tests despite having Covid symptoms.

When their lungs get infected and the case becomes severe they are admitted to ICU for treatment. She asked the patients not to worry and follow the Covid protocols. One should get tested as soon as any symptom of Covid emerges and get proper medical support and not start self medication, she added. PM Modi patiently listened to her experience and appreciated her confidence and efforts she made during treatment of the patients and extended his best wishes to Sister Bhawna Dhruv.
