Despite clear instructions from the Collector and the Divisional Railway Manager, concerned senior officials are not ensuring compliance of Covid-19 protocol at railway station in Jabalpur. Commuters are still boarding and alighting from trains without screening, sanitisation and other necessary protocols.

As the cases of Covid-19 are escalating in entire Madhya Pradesh, including Jabalpur, Collector Karmveer Sharma along with DRM Sanjay Vishwas, took a meeting of concerned senior officials, on Thursday and directed the concerned officials to ensure following of Covid protocol at railway station platforms. They instructed senior officials to ensure thermal screening, rapid testing and sanitisation of passengers at main gates of the Railway platforms.
The Collector clearly asked for screening of passengers arriving in the trains coming from Nagpur and other cities of Maharashtra.

But, the tall claims made by Railway authorities for ensuring strict adherence to the directions given by the Collector seems poles apart. At platform No.1, the thermal screening machine was kept intact and there was no official or employee present to conduct thermal screening of passengers. On the contrary, the thermal screening machine was out of order at platform no 6.

The laidback attitude of the Railway authorities may prove dear to citizens State Government’s efforts to prevent people from the dreadful virus. There was no concerned official or employee present at the main entrance or anywhere on the platform to conduct rapid testing of passengers arriving in and out of the station premises.
‘The Hitavada’ spoke to senior authorities in this connection. When contacted WCR Divisional Commercial Manager Sunil Srivastava said,
