Choked oxygen supply line causes fire n Fire doused well in time by employees

The Bhandara District General Hospital that was in news recently for the gruesome fire that killed 10 newborn babies again witnessed a fire on Friday late night. Thankfully, this time round the employees noticed the fire before it could inflict any substantial damage. According to information, the fire broke due to choked oxygen cylinder supply line which started emitting gas. The oxygen was being supplied to the corona centre.

The cylinders were kept in front of Ophthalmology ward. There is no nozzle in the oxygen supply pipeline and there is provision to regulate the supply. However, the supply line is old and a certain miscalculation in release of oxygen resulted in the accident. As soon as flames started emiting from the cylinder, guard and employees present on the spot immediately took efforts to douse the fire. The oxygen supply was affected due to the incident and so those needing oxygen were shifted to other wards. District Civil Surgeon Dr Farooqui informed that the condition is very much under control and efforts are on to improve the system and oxygen supply is being maintained.
