An important meeting of District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee ‘Disha’ was organised in conference hall at the Collectorate on Saturday. Member of Parliament Rakesh Singh chaired the meeting. He reviewed ongoing works carried out by the Health Department, Jabalpur Municipal Corporation, District Panchayat, Irrigation Department, Jabalpur Smart City, Jabalpur Development Authority and also solicited suggestions from public representatives. During the meeting, Singh held discussions over present situation of COVID-19 in the district, on which the MLAs suggested that Government’s guidelines must be complied with strictly to protect people from the virus. They laid emphasis on use of mask, social distancing and sanitisation.
 
Public representatives also suggested for public awareness for corona vaccine so that all people of selected age group can get the same. While reviewing Jabalpur Smart City works, MP Singh asked senior officials concerned to prepare a proposal for IPL match level cricket stadium in Jabalpur so that it can be approved at the earliest. After construction of the stadium, Jabalpur will get a new identity and it would also create new employment opportunities, he added. Singh said to speed up development of Jabalpur, he got approved Technology Centre to be constructed at a cost of Rs 200 crore for which about 20 acre of land is required and the land has been identified near Richhai.
 
Hence, senior officials of District Trade and Industries Center should coordinate with officials of Town and Country Planning to speed up the work. Singh also held discussions on selection of land for Kendriya Vidyalaya, on which it was informed that 5 acres of land has been identified near Oriya (Katangi bypass). He directed the Municipal Commissioner for appointing Agency for water harvesting. Singh also discussed proposed Science Centre in Bhedaghat.
